Clare
Hollys
This cute little café we were driving past in Kilkee and HAD to stop.
They’re coffee was tasty + honestly I’m raging that we missed out on their lemon tart, ye know i’m a fan. If you pop yourself over onto their instagram though you’ll see the unreal desserts they do!
Oh + the staff, they were amazing, like, you know when you’d go back just for the fab staff, this is one of those spots.
Hugo’s
This guy is right in Lahinch as you drive in. You won’t miss it. Blue building + they’ve a lil deli too. It’s so cute so if you’ve an air bnb it would be perfect to grab so really decent bits + bobs.
We got their sausage doll( here it was hot + kind of tasted like a rissole) wasn’t my favourite sausage roll but a gazillion times better than a supermarket hot counter
Also got a super laugh + airy croissant + cruffin (sugary + delicious)
Russell’s
You know what this place is a great chipper. The togarashi onion rings are still on my hit list + the lobster dishes (they were sold out when we got there) but I did get their calamari + they were crispy and so tasty. I keep squeezing the lemon on crispy fish, like, why? It makes it soggy, so don’t follow in my footsteps on that one guys. Here, the calamari came with veg through which was the best bit.
If you’re ordering chips, the bags are bloody massive so definitely get them to share, me + ju made the rookie mistake of ordering two mahussive unnecessary bags or fried spuds, here, I don’t even like chips that much.
Julie got the tempura veg and it was so tasty too. Sometimes you just want a load of veg on a trip don't you!
Sourdo Farrell
This place is so cute, nuzzled into a housing estate in Ennis. There’s no indoor seating, well just two window bench seats fyi but there is outdoor seating. It was windy when we were there but when there are tasty pastries involved. We managed.
Got the kouigan aman which I have been told is nothing like what’s in France but sure, we’re in Clare, it was super crunchy however, a bit crunchier than what i’ve tasted before. BUT i did enjoy the coffee they used Aman. Wait, we got other pastries too: their cardamom was my favourite, sure look, I loved cardamom. If i am being particular the other pecan bun was a little dense for me, but Julie thought it was delicious and was super flavoursome.
Dodi Cafe
Hot chocolate was so light + fluffy + they use proper chocolate. We both got oat milk. You know when the mallows melt into the hot chocolate, it’s heaven eh.
So, we got lunch here, most of the menu options were more brunch style, pancakes, loaded avo toast etc. but Julie got their potato fritter bap, it had the most perfect fried egg on top!
Honestly, their cookies looked SO great + other treats too.
I got the loaded avo toast, it was loaded, i got the bacon that was unnecessary for me, but nice and crispy, I got it without the feta because I honestly hate the stuff. There was a little too much oil on it too, but was still super flavoursome.
Ash @ Pots
Ash at pots. I’ve been DYING to go here for so so long. It was super cute. We outdoor dined but honeslt the exteriors + garden was so bloody cute. The menu changes a bit so check out her instagram but there’s always something to eat for meat eaters or veggies. We chose a few things. The pork + chicken dish we got one of each and shared. THE TZATZIKI on the pork was so so tasty, the pork itself wasn’t my favourite but I loved all the slaw and pickle and everything that was on the plate with it.
The chicken was SO super tender and oh my god, whatever sauce that was on it was heaven.
The table service was kind of cool, you scanned the QR code but honestly the staff were so friendly and lovely.
We also got the halva, it came as a trio and if i could have just had two more of the cardamom only that would have been perfect!! Oh + don’t forget to order the hummus.
Fiddle and Bow
This place was so cute. We ate our fish + chips under the tents. Julie got us cocktails, sure why not have cocktails. I had the espresso martini, it was a bit sweet for me but tasty all the same, ju got the pornstar martini which looked so juicy + delicious and she said it tasted it too.
Unglert’s
I bet most people miss this place, It’s on the way into Ennistymon from limerick direction, it’s so cute, it’s small + its super close to pot duggans.
It’s a bakery x health food store. The window is the cutest thing ever, if you go, you’ll see what I mean.
We just couldn’t not get a pastry to try. We got their almond and custard and it was delicious. You know, they make everything in house and the layers of pastry were so so light and fluffy.
The Cheese Press
The staff here are so so lovely. Like, the friendliest.
We got their toastie to try, it was nice, just alright you know. It was flavoursome but I really wished they used some great bread + that the outside was crispier. It was filled with tapenade + sun dried tomato pesto and obviously THE best cheese.
This is it.
C’mon this place just has really great sambos. We were dying for their doguhnuts but they didn’t have any the day we were there.
Back to the sambo. It was warm, crispy, delicious. I can’t tell you exactly what was in it, I know it was ham, cheese, harissa mayo and maybe some salsa verde. You can tell it’s all homemade.
Julia’s Lobster Truck
Don’t be a Sarah-Kim and order ahead. I didn’t read the fine print on the post, I didn’t send the text, so I didn't get any lobster. Basically our whole day revolved around getting the bloody lobster so definitely was a little disappointed.
However, it wasn’t all lost, I did get to try their scampi and was honestly the best scampi I’ve every had. So that was a win. No matter what you order, order the sexy sauce. The chips though, the chips were crispy, they were squidgy on the inside and crispy on the outside. I’ll have to go back for bbq lobster another time.
