Mayo

I feel like Mayo is so ginormous it's going to take me so long to first of all Scout the county for the best food but secondly at some point I might need to split it into Mayo and Achill, it's like Achill is a destination in itself. Anyway for now I've gone to a few different places to help you navigate your rumbling tums around Mayo.

Blásta (Ted's Bar on Achill)

It's one of the best food trucks going. Simple, tasty, delicious food. I've eaten there twice, first was the fish and chips, the chips were delicious, their mushy peas were perfectly green + tasty and their fish was fresh (with a super crispy batter). Next round I had their crispy fish tacos which you can see on my Instagram Reels, were delicious. Like, really delicious, the sources are super tasty whatever was on it, honestly we were so hungry after hiking Nephin with not much food that day so just inhaled at.

Cian’s, Westport

For brunch or dinner. Did a tik Tok on this place if you want to see what it’s about. We got burgers and chips and doughnuts and all of it. Here, we were starving. the food was decent, the chips were skinny fries and crispy. They do a brioche bun and it was a simple cheeseburger I got.

FYI you’ll find biscoff doughnuts here.

This Must be the Place

This kind of really is the place you need to go in Westport! I’ve eaten here a few times, so their menu is small (which I love personally) they do a breakfast menu and then lunch. their breakfast is super simple, granola, porridge or toast with eggs kind of thing. Then, lunch they do toasties and they’d some yummy chickpea curry veg options which I need to go back to try.

The Tavern

(just below Crough Patrick) bit of post hike belly feels. I got their seafood chowder, I had to! I They're known for their chowder which is award-winning. Now, I will say, unfortunately it didn't win award with me. It wasn't bad, but I felt it lacked fish chunks. My friend got the beef burger which looked so delicious so I'll have to go back another time.

Seven Wanders Café

These guys do coffee, breakfast, lunch. their toasties look decent which are lunchtime bits. Then, breakfast you’ll get avocado toast kind of thing, make sure to check with them for a menu though because their menu could change. I got an iced oat coffee here, tasty tasty.

The Salt Dock @ Achill Sea Salt

Now, there’s not many places of Achill are there, but i’d definitely recommend popping by here for coffee and treats. they don’t do savoury food, and I actually didn’t get anything sweet because I wasn’t feeling it, but the coffee was nice and my friend got a salted caramel square that looked so decent + a hot chocolate.

Ginger and Wild

In Nephin National Park will find one of the best cafes, yep, it's so good. You know one of these places that you wouldn't think by looking at it? Well the food is so delicious. We got brown bread for brekkie one day and it was homemade and heaven. Isn't butter and bread one of the best things? Anyway their desserts look delicious too. It's not somewhere you go for the best flat white but coffee isn't bad either.

Il Fontina

Fancy something Italian? We got pizzas which were tasty, not the best pizza in the world but still delicious. BUT I’d say the pasta is so scrummy.
